hi there. you can call me mk.

I'm a residential kitchen & bath designer by day, design blogger by night, and interior designer by profession and passion. my background is in industrial design, but I discovered my love for interiors after working as a designer for a luxury bath gallery, getting to work with brands including ann sacks, new ravenna, kohler, kallista, and getting to muse over designers like martyn lawrence bullard, kelly wearstler, barbara barry, michael s. smith, whilst being introduced to many more.

I've called many places home; beverly hills, mi | shawnee, ks | lawrence, ks | carmel, in | pleasant prairie, wi | whitefish bay, wi | but I've landed in boston, though I still consider milwaukee, wi, home. my circle of people is small - a mom, dad, sister, five best friends, and a boyfriend - but it is mighty. my italian greyhound is my sidekick in life, goes everywhere I go (quite literally - he's a frequent flier), and has a wardrobe better than most.

my aesthetic is fluid; I have a particular affinity for parisian influences in modern spaces, and scandinavian design with a unique flare. having worked in the luxury home sector and in product design, I have a strong appreciation for craftsmanship, especially when it comes to tile and stone. my love for mixed stones/marbles, mosaics, suede finishes, unlacquered brass, and intricate millwork is never-ending. my pinterest is a pretty solid representation of what that looks like.

a good home must be made, not bought.

the delight of design was started as a way to share my knowledge of and passion for the industry with other lovers of design, from all walks of life. I believe that beautifying one thing each day - be it adding a new piece of furniture, fixture, or even just cleaning - can provide fulfillment, and providing the tools or inspiration to do so is personally empowering.

I hope the delight of design helps you discover something inspiring!
